Looks just like San Antonio.

I’m a Southern California dude. San Antonio wasn’t supposed to be home.

I got stationed here in 2018, did my four years, and when it was time to decide what came next, my family and I stayed. Somewhere along the way, Texas became home too.

These days I hold down the West Side, and I’ve got a real appreciation for this city—for the life we’ve built here, what San Antonio has done for my family, and the particular sense of humor that comes with calling this place home.
And if you live here, you know.

San Antonio has never been afraid to clown itself.

So when Landman played with the idea of San Antonio as some romantic Texas version of a European river city—and then Wemby looked out at Paris and joked that it looked like the River Walk—it felt like the joke had finally reached its natural conclusion:

Paris is basically San Antonio.

That became River Walk Blend.

The back graphic imagines a forgotten pack of old American cigarettes bearing the proud name SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS—except its picturesque riverfront scene just happens to feature the Eiffel Tower. The whole thing is rendered like battered tobacco packaging pulled from a drawer decades later: aged paper, worn navy ink, ornate borders, distressed typography and the kind of grandiose advertising language that takes itself completely seriously.

The front carries a smaller distressed SA insignia derived from the same fictional brand, finished with vintage ornament and a Texas star.
The joke works because nobody explains it.

It’s affectionate, a little ridiculous, and completely straight-faced.

San Antonio is my city now.
