If you're from the IE, you've probably been told you live in the middle of nowhere at least once.

The Inland Empire tee is a love letter to a very particular corner of Southern California—and to the people who grew up there.

The back graphic imagines the IE as a long-forgotten late-'70s consumer brand, printed on a battered piece of packaging that's been sitting in somebody's garage for the last forty years. A camel crosses the desert beneath palms, pyramids and a setting sun while a pharaoh watches over the whole thing.

For Inland Empire locals, there are a few more layers.

The Egyptian imagery gives a nod to Pharaoh's Lost Kingdom, the once-familiar Inland Empire attraction that lives on in the memories of people who were around for it. And the exaggerated desert landscape plays with another piece of IE culture: having your L.A. and Orange County friends act like driving inland means you've officially entered BFE.

The front is finished with an oversized distressed IE monogram, designed like the mark of some forgotten regional brand. Both sides carry deliberately faded ink, scratches, cracks, missing pigment and other imperfections to give the artwork the character of genuinely aged printed ephemera rather than a pristine modern graphic.

Printed on an apricot mineral-washed tee, the warm garment color was intentionally chosen to blend into the tobacco-stained, sun-faded palette of the artwork.
